53 Tamil school girls massacred in Sri Lanka’s air raid remembered

Memorials were held in Tamil Eelam and abroad to pay tribute to 53 Tamil school girls massacred in a targeted airstrike by the Sri Lankan air force.

On 14 August 2006, the Sri Lankan air force dropped bombs on Chencholai Children’s Home in Vallipunam, Mullaithivu, killing 53 school girls and 8 staff members; and injuring 150 more.


Memorial events were held today at Jaffna University, schools across Tamil Eelam and the offices of the TNPF.
