Centuries-old Hindu temple demolished by the Sri Lankan military

The Sri Lankan military has demolished a centuries-old Hindu temple in Katsilaimadu, Mullaithivu, the owner of the site of the temple has alleged.

The land where the temple of Lord Shiva existed for many centuries was appropriated by Sri Lanka’s Archeological Department in 2013, claiming the remnants of a Buddhist vihara were recovered from there.

Mr Kandiah Sivarasa, the owner of the land, whose title deed dates back to the year 1921, has told media personnel that after demolishing the centuries-old Hindu temple that existed in his land, the Sri Lankan military is now constructing a Buddhist vihara there.
