Earthquake of 7.3 magnitude strikes Kurdistan

An earthquake of 7.3 magnitude has struck the Kurdistan Region on Sunday.

The earthquake struck the provinces of Erbil, Sulaimani, Kirkuk, Halabja and Duhok at Kurdistan time 9:15pm.


At least 500 people are reported to have been injured, with many killed.

The 19th century Kurdish Sherwana Castle was damaged in the earthquake.
