Indian Supreme Court: Tamil Nadu can release Rajiv Gandhi convicts

The Indian Supreme Court has ruled that the Tamil Nadu government has the power to release those convicted in Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination case.

In a landmark ruling delivered today, the Indian Supreme Court also disposed the petition filed by the Indian Central Government that sought to prevent the release of the convicts.

Today’s ruling has paved the way for the Tamil Nadu government to release all of the seven Tamils jailed in connection with Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination.
