Muslim ministers to be blamed for the plight of Muslims – NPC Muslim member

A Muslim member of the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) has accused Muslim cabinet ministers for the plight of displaced Northern Muslims.

Speaking at a public meeting held in Chettikulam, Vavuniya, on Sunday, Mr Ayub Asmin said Tamil leaders cannot be blamed for the two decades long delay in resettling Northern Muslims.

Despite holding ministerial positions in Sri Lanka’s successive governments for the past sixteen years, Muslim leaders have done nothing to resettle Muslims in the North, Mr Asmin lamented.

The NPC member also accused Muslim cabinet ministers of using the plight of displaced Northern Muslims as a pretext for increasing their wealth.
