Canadian Tamil abducted and murdered in Colombo

Friday November 29, 2019

A Canadian Tamil has been abducted and killed in Colombo, less than two weeks after Gotabaya Rajapaksa was elected the Sri Lankan president.

Mr Thambirajah Ambalavanar was staying in Wellawatte, Colombo, and went missing on 26 November, to be recovered dead at a railway track in Puttalam, many miles from his residence.

The news comes in the wake of a local Swiss Embassy staff being abducted by unknown men and threatened to reveal information about the activities of the embassy, before being released.
