The constitutional crisis in Sri Lanka deepened as 118 MPs signed a resolution opposing Rajapaksa's appointment as prime minister.

Meanwhile, UNP parliamentarian Palitha Range Bandara told a press conference today that he was offered 500 million rupees and a ministerial portfolio to join the Rajapasa camp, which he added he had rejected.

Informed sources in Colombo told the Tamilpolity that the parliament is expected to be reconvened on 7 November, instead of 5 November, and Rajapaksa may not be able to prove his majority in the legislature.
