Jaffna University students interrogated by intelligence personnel

Wednesday October 31, 2018

Jaffna University students have been interrogated by Sri Lankan intelligence personnel on funding received for holding a cultural event.

Recently, the Students' Union of Jaffna University held a cultural event called Thamilamutham, which received some funding from Tamil parliamentarians and well wishers from the Tamil Diaspora in the West.

Sources close to the organisers claim they incurred a debt of 1.5 million rupees as a result of holding the event; and were therefore shocked and surprised when they were subjected to interrogation by intelligence personnel on funding received for holding the event.
