LTTE, PKK remain in EU's renewed list of terrorist organisations

Tuesday January 14, 2020

The EU has included the LTTE and the PKK in its renewed list of so-called terrorist organisations.

The development comes against the backdrop of the so-called Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam preparing to launch a fundraising drive in the UK to raise 1 million pounds to challenge the proscription of the LTTE by the UK government.

Although the tens of thousands of Euros were spent in the previous years by Tamil activists to challenge the EU ban on the LTTE, and an European Court initially ruled in 2014 that the ban was illegal, using new grounds and evidence the EU has continued to place the LTTE in its so-called list of foreign terrorist organisations.
