Mayoress of Harrow faces backlash over links to Sri Lanka's genocidaires

Thursday February 28, 2019

The Mayoress of Harrow has come under fire from the Tamil community over her links with Sri Lanka's genocidaires and war criminals.

On a recent visit to Sri Lanka, Ms Kareema Marikar posed for photographs with the Sri Lankan army commander and Brigadier Priyankara Fernando, the former defence attache of the Sri Lankan High Commission to the UK, who made throat curring gestures to Tamil protesters on 4 February 2018.

A protest was held on Thursday outside Harrow Civic Centre, condemning the Mayoress' actions.
