Mothers of disappeared Tamils protest against Gotabaya's visit to Jaffna

Monday October 28, 2019

Mothers of disappeared Tamils held a vigil today condemning Gotabaya Rajapaksa's visit to Jaffna.

The vigil was held by the statue of Sankiliyan II, the last ruler of the Kingdom of Jaffna who resisted Portuguese colonisation of Tamil areas.

The protestors held banners referring to Gotabaya as the owner of white vans, which were used by the Sri Lankan military and its paramilitary forces  to abduct and disappear thousands of Tamils.

Meanwhile, attending an election rally in Jaffna today, Gotabaya, accompanied by Tamil paramilitary leaders, said he would resolve the problems of people once he comes to power.
