Sampanthan warns Sritharan to toe party line

The leader of the TNA has ordered Mr S.Sritharan MP to toe the party line or face the consequences of rebelling against his leadership.

Sources close to the TNA told the Tamilpolity that a war of words erupted between TNA leader Mr R.Sampanthan MP and Mr S.Sritharan MP at a closed-door party meeting held in the parliament  complex today, after the latter refused to sign an affidavit to be filed in the Supreme Court against Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Mr Sritharan reportedly told Mr Sampanthan that he would not sign the affidavit, which is likely to benefit the ousted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, unless the latter gives concrete assurances on finding a permanent political solution to the Tamil national question.

In response, Mr Sampanthan had reportedly warned Mr Sritharan that if he does not toe the party line, he would be denounced as a traitor and a loyalist of Mr Rajapaksa.
