The Sri Lankan army's infamous 'murder squad' has roamed through the streets of Jaffna on Sunday, heightening fears among the people.

Infamous for abducting and killing or disappearing hundreds of Tamil youth in the past, the 'murder squad' was seen coming out of the high security zones of Palali and roaming through the streets of Jaffna, before returning to their barracks, as preparations are underway in the peninsula to commemorate Tamil Eelam National Heroes' Day.

At least twelve motorbikes of the 'murder squad' were sighted on the streets of Jaffna, locals claim.
