Sri Lankan security forces lay siege to TNPF's Jaffna office

Monday July 06, 2020

The Sri Lankan security forces laid siege to the TNPF office in Jaffna on Sunday, claiming they had received information the party was making preparations to commemorate Black Tigers' Day.

Over 50 Sri Lankan police and military personnel were seen in and around the party's office.

Commenting on the development, Mr Gajendrakumar Ponnampalam, the leader of the TNPF, said they had no plans to commemorate Black Tigers' Day; and by making a heavy presence around their office, the Sri Lankan security forces were trying to deter their supporters from making visits to their office.
