Tamils mark Heroes' Day

Tuesday November 27, 2018

Tamils across the world mark the National Heroes' Day of Tamil Eelam today, honouring the heroes who died defending them from genocide.

In Tamil Eelam, memorial events will be held at Heroes' Cemeteries at 6:07pm, the time of the death of Lt.Shangar, the first Tamil freedom  fighter to lay down his life fighting the genocidal Sri Lankan military forces.

Memorial events will be held simultaneously at selected venues in Western capitals, India and other parts of the world where Tamils live.

In a statement released to mark Heroes' Day, Mr C.V.Wigneswaran, the former chief minister of Northern Tamil Eelam, said no one can prevent Tamils from remembering their national heroes who sacrificed their lives for their political rights.
