The TNA leader has urged the Sri Lankan president to find a political solution to the Tamil national question before next Dipavali.
Speaking to reporters after participating in Dipavali celebrations held at the Presidential Palace today, Mr R.Sampanthan MP said although it was his party and the Tamil people who brought President Maithripala Sirisena to power, he has thus far failed to fulfill his promise to find a permanent solution to the conflict.
'I have participated in every Dipavali celebration held at the Presidential Palace since Sirisena was elected president. Every time I urged him to find a permanent political solution to the conflict. Nothing has happened so far,' the TNA leader lamented.
Meanwhile, the Colombo paper Daily Mirror has reported that President Sirisena has agreed to fulfill the TNA leader's demands by next Dipavali.
