Reconciliation hindered by land occupation – Sampanthan

The leader of Tamil National Alliance has urged the Sri Lankan president to release occupied lands in Kepapulavu, Mullaithivu, without any further delay.

In a letter addressed to President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday, Mr R.Sampanthan pointed out that unless the government takes steps to release occupied lands to their rightful owners, it cannot expect true reconciliation.

Seventy-three acres of private land in Kepapulavu remain under the occupation of the Sri Lankan military, despite numerous promises by the government they would be released.
