Remove Buddha’s shrine in Iranaimadu – TNA MP

The TNA MP for Killinochi district has urged the Sri Lankan government to remove Buddha’s shrine at Iranaimadu.

Following the occupation of Iranaimadu in January 2009, the Sri Lankan military constructed a shrine of Lord Buddha beside Iranimadu Tank, claiming soldiers stationed there needed it to carry out their religious observances.

The shrine, however, continues to remain beside Iranaimadu Tank, despite recent troop withdrawal from the area.

S.Sritharan. the TNA MP for Killinochi, has urged the Sri Lankan government to remove the shrine, as its existence is no longer necessary since there are no Buddhists in the area to make use of it following recent troop withdrawal.
