Secessionists in the Tamil Diaspora must be weakened – Sri Lankan president

The Sri Lankan president has hinted that he will continue targeting the Tamil Diaspora until the Tamil secessionist movement abroad is weakened.

Speaking at Colombo Army Hospital Auditorium on Thursday, President Maithiripala Sirisena said LTTE supporters living in foreign countries were continuing to pose a threat to the stability and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka by advocating the creation of an independent Tamil state in the island.

It is imperative that necessary steps are taken to make their secessionist endeavours futile, Mr Sirisena added.
