Sirisena’s upcoming visit to Jaffna: harassment of ex-combatants stepped-up

Sri Lanka’s counter-terrorism police officers have stepped-up their harassment of ex-LTTE cadres in Jaffna, human rights activists have alleged.

In some cases, counter-terrorism officials have visited the homes of former combatants, warning them to stay at home during the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena’s upcoming visit to the Jaffna peninsula.

Some ex-fighters have complained that they are being constantly monitored by Sri Lankan military intelligence personnel, making it to difficult for them to get on with their daily lives.
