Sri Lanka is monoethnic – asserts government

Sri Lanka’s so-called regime of good governance has asserted that the country’s population is monoethnic.

The assertion has been made through an internal circular sent to civil servants requiring them to take an oath that they will work for the betterment of the island’s ‘monoethnic’ population.

Commenting on the circular, a former TNA MP told the Tamil Polity, ‘The current government, like its predecessors, has once again made it clear that it has no intention of enacting a new constitution recognising the multiethnic nature of the island.’
