Sri Lankan government steps up Sinhalisation of Jaffna

Sri Lanka’s pro-Western, pro-market government has stepped up Sinhalisation of Jaffna by constructing a Sinhala Buddhist temple at its entrance.

The last anti-Western government of the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa set up a Sinhala colony at Navatkuli, the entrance of Jaffna.

The current pro-Western government of President Maithripala Sirisena is now constructing a Sinhala Buddhist temple at Navatkuli, with the objective of creating an impression on foreign visitors that Jaffna is also a Sinhala Buddhist land, locals have alleged.
