Tamil traders in Mannar stand shoulder to shoulder with their Muslim counterparts

Tamil traders in Mannar are observing a shutdown today, expressing solidarity with Muslim traders protesting attacks by Sinhala Buddhist extremists.

Hundreds of Muslim shops have been attacked in Amparai and Kandy within the past week by Sinhala Buddhist extremists. A number of mosques have also been vandalized or partially burnt.

Islamists have retaliated by attacking Buddhist temples and calling for Jihad.
