Tamils massacred by Indian troops remembered

A memorial was held in Valvettithurai, Jaffna, today to pay tribute to 63 Tamils massacred by Indian military forces.

On 2, 3 and 4 of August 1989, the occupying Indian troops went on a rampage in Valvettithurai, massacring Tamil men, women and children.

Twenty-nine years on, none of the Indian military personnel involved in the massacre have been held to account, and a memorial was held today at Valvettithurai Junction to pay tribute   to the sixty-three victims, and to remind the international community of the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Indian troops.
