Vijayakala forced out!

Mrs Vijayakala Maheswaran has resigned from the Sri Lankan government, after controversy over her  calls for the resurgence of the LTTE.

Sri Lankan government sources in Colombo claim that Mrs Maheswaran was ordered to resign by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, after the former met the latter last night.

Despite being affiliated to the Sinhala extremist political party, the United National Party (UNP), Mrs Maheswaran, and her late husband, have remained vocal supporters of the LTTE and the Tamil freedom struggle.

Mr Maheswaran was murdered on New Year’s Day of 2008 by Sri Lankan government’s paramilitary forces.
