Sinhala and Muslim parliamentarians rallied against State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran in the Sri Lankan parliament today, calling for her arrest.
The parliament was adjourned twice today after ruling coalition and opposition MPs, excluding Tamil parliamentarians, walked into the well of the house, disrupting proceedings.
The Sri Lankan government’s Muslim parliamentarian S.M.Marikar called for Mrs Maheswaran to be sent to mental hospital for supporting the LTTE.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe announced in the parliament that he would be launching an inquiry into Mrs Maheswaran’s pro-LTTE statement.
Mr Karu Jayasuriya, the Speaker of the House said he is referring Mrs Maheswaran’s case to the attorney general to determine further action.
